Ride Bikes.
Raise money for refugees.

Bikes 4 Books started with a simple idea.

Ride our bikes far and raise money for education. Our rides average between 280-300 miles and take three and a half days. B4B is open to riders, new and old, of all skill levels. We are a ride for charity; not a race.

The Model

Each rider is asked to fundraise on behalf of our partner organizations and help spread the word about their work. By reaching out to their individual networks of friends, family, and coworkers, B4B riders collect small donations and provide a human connection to the cause we ride for. The result over the past 5 years; 1000 miles ridden, almost 100 individual riders, and over $30,000 in donations!

In 2017, B4B is partnering with GirlForward, a Chicago-based NGO who helps provide scholarship and leadership opportunities for refugee girls, for the 3rd year. “Riding for Refugees” is the sixth chapter in B4B’s history and will have a special focus on casting a light on Chicago’s refugee population.

Meet our Partner, GirlForward

Why GirlForward?

At B4B we’ve always been dedicated to riding in support of education and that’s still the case with GF. GirlForward is a Chicago-based NGO dedicated to helping in the resetlement process of teenage refugee girls in Chicago, IL and Austin, TX.

Their programs include:

Mentoring Programs that pair girls with mentors to engage in “4W” activities (Wellness, Wisdom, Wallet and World) in order to explore their passions and graduate from high school.

Camp GirlForward a space that provides for girls to simultaneously build their English skills while exploring their identities and learning about the world around them.

The Safe Spaces Project provides safe spaces for girls to explore their identities, connect with other girls, and access the resources they need.
